Why volunteer to organise an event?

Posted on 10th May 2016

Sometimes you don’t get the choice, you are told to do it or event organising comes in your job description. However, sometimes a department will ask for a volunteer or for a committee to step forward. When you’re already busy why on earth would you want to do that?

If the event goes wrong the whole mess can land in your lap and your reputation can be tainted. There’s a lot at stake and you can’t afford to miss a single detail.

Organising an event is a very effective way of standing out in your organisation. Often senior management who you might not usually have the opportunity to network with will be involved. If you are on a career ladder with promotion prospects along the way being known for organising a successful event can be a real advantage.

That is why it is important that you choose the right event partners. Working with a competent event company will take much of the stress off your shoulders. It is worth considering asking an event company to recommend a hotel, because you will benefit from their relationship with the venue who will have two clients to please.

Volunteering to organise an event is not as crazy an idea as it sounds. Choose the right partners and the success of the event will shine on you. So how do you go about finding an event company that you can rely on? Our number is on the top right of this page!
